Dispensing Prescriptions

A pharmacist is available to dispense both NHS and Private prescriptions. Our pharmacist is also available to give you advice on how and when to take your prescribed medicine and if there are any other medicines you should avoid whilst taking it. This is because we have a modern computerised Patient Medication Record System which enables us to record details of your prescriptions as we dispense them. your medicine will be clearly labelled and will also give appropriate warnings - e.g. if your medicine may cause drwsiness, if alcohol is to be avoided etc.

Our counter staff are properly trained using accredited courses so that they can advise you on treating common ailments. They may ask you one or two questions so that we can check that you are getting the most suitable advice or remedy. Thaey may suggest that you speak to the pharmacist before buying anything.

Emergency Prescriptions

If you are unable to reach a doctor and urgently require prescription medicines, we may be able to supply you with medicines that you have had on prescription before. At night, on Sundays and Public holidays, the doctor may mark your prescription "URGENT" and can make arrangements to get it dispensed. In exceptional circumstances when a prescription is marked urgent and the doctor has been unable to advise you where to get it dispensed, you should contact the local police who may arrange for a pharmacist to be called out.

Manufacturers Leaflets

Medicines supplied in manufacturers original packs contain a leaflet which is intended to help you take your medicine safely. Ask your pharmacist if there is anything in the leaflet which you are unclear about or if you want any further information.

Healthcare leaflets

Please help yourself from our display of healthcare and other leaflets which cover many of the topics we are frequently asked about. We regularly add new leaflets to the stand.

Medicine Containers

We supply manufacturers original containers where apporopriate. e.g. compliance packs, or when the original container forms part of the safe storage conditions for the medicine. Loose tablets are dispensed in child resistant containers. Please remember that no system is totally child proof, so make sure you keep all medicines out of childrens sight and reach.

If you have difficulty in opening child resistant containers, please let us know.

Unwanted Medicines

Hoarding medicines can be dangerous, so dont keep unwanted medicines in your home. Don't be tempted to flush them down the toilet, burn them or put them in the bin. The best option is to take them back to the pharmacy where they can be safely disposed of.

Incontinence Supplies

We can advise in confidence on the correct product for all types of incontinence, and supply products to meet a wide range of incontinence requirements.

Ostomy Supplies

We can supply an extensive range of ostomy appliances and can make arrangements to have your personal requirements available.

Surgical Hosiery

We can supply the full range of NHS compression stockings.

First Aid Supplies

We can supply statutory First Aid Kits that comply with Health & Safety Regulations and have a range of domestic First Aid Kits.

Holiday Requirements

If you are going on holiday we can advise about sunburn, tummy upsets, malaria and other holiday risks and recommend suitable rmedies and sensible precautions.

Pregnancy Testing

We can do a pregnancy test for you. All we need is a small early morning sample. Alternatively we can sell you a home test kit along with advice on its use.

Complaints

We aim to give the best possible service and welcome your feedback. If however you have a complaint, please ask to speak to Mr David Harvey who is our company Pharmacy Superintendant, or if unavailable, the pharmacist in charge as soon as you can. This matter will be handled in line with the NHS national procedure. If we cannot resolve the problem or you do not want to raise it directly with us, you can contact your local primary care trust.
